is the Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) Policy?      
This policy is tailor-made for HKCPA
members to cover for indemnity arising from breach of professional
duty in employment as a clinical psychologist.
Insurance Company:
Allianz Insurance (HK) Ltd. It is a Germany based international
insurer and is the top three largest insurers in the world. Website
is at www.allianz.com and www.allianz.com.hk
 What
are the characterisitcs of this policy?      
Insurance period
is 1 Jan to 31 Dec of each year (both days inclusive).
Highest indemnity
covered per case (limit of liability per case) is HK$10 million.
Total indemnity
covered per year (for all claims made per year) is HK$20 million.
Any legal costs
(consultation or defense costs and expenses) incurred will be deducted
from the total indemnity covered per year.
The policy is on
a claim made basis (the time a claim is submitted) and not on a
claim occurrence basis (i.e. when the act of negligence was made).
Covers claims for
libel and slander arising out of the conduct of professional duties.
Coverage to the
estates or legal representatives of the Insured in the event of
death or incapacity.
Covers liability
of insured members (acting in the capacity of a CP) in a committee.
For those who retire
from HKCPA (and stop being CPs), they will be covered against breach
of professional duty committed during the working period if the
claim is only first known to insured during insurance period.
For each established
claim, the Insured responsible has to pay the first HK$10,000.
 What
are the exclusions (things or acts not covered)?      
All acts under the influence of intoxicants,
drugs, alcohol etc.;
All acts of gross negligence;
All acts of dishonest, fraudulent,
criminal or malicious nature;
Malpractice incidents that are known
or pending prior to the Insured’s joining this scheme;
Territorial jurisdictional cover:
worldwide except US & Canada;
Duty assumed by the Insured not in
the normal conduct of the Insured’s profession as CP; and
All loss incurred due to internet
operation, terrorism and asbestos.
 Who
should subscribe to this policy?      
Anyone employed as clinical psychologist
should do so.
 What
are the requirements for joining?      
At the time of application, each subscribing
member should fulfill the following 3 conditions:
1. Has fully paid-up the HKCPA annual subscription fee of the year
insured;
2. Has fully paid-up the annual membership fee of both Hong Kong
Psychological Society (HKPS) and Division of Clinical Psychology
(DCP); and
3. Agrees to abide by the rules and regulations (including Code
of Professional Conduct) of DCP & HKPS.
 When
should a CP subscribe or renew the subscription?      
HKCPA recommends members to subscribe
as soon as they start working as CPs.
Renewal of the Master Policy will
normally take place prior to the expiration of the existing policy.
If for administrative reasons, renewal of the Master Policy for
the following year cannot take effect by 1st Jan of the following
year, the Insured Members (known subscribers) will still be covered
during the grace period until the Master Policy is renewed (subject
to Insurance Company's agreement). When the Master Policy is renewed,
it will be retroactive to 1st day of that year.
Insured members are advised to renew
their subscription immediately upon receiving notice from HKCPA.
 What
are the costs for subscribing the PII (2007)?      
Full year subscription: HK$1,500 premium
fee to the insurance company, and HK$200 administration fee to HKCPA.
Half year subscription (effective
1 July 2007 onward): HK$750 premium fee to the insurance company,
and HK$200 administration fee to HKCPA.
 What
to do if there are possible claims?      
Upon occurrence of an incident likely to give rise to a claim or
upon receipt of a claim from a third party, please:
Inform Charterlloyd Insurance Brokers
Ltd (Mr. Raymond CHOW at 25236350, or mobile 91977135) without delay.
Complete the Claims Form within reasonable
period of time to Charterlloyd Insurance Brokers Ltd.
Prepare and collect all relevant
medical reports to Charterlloyd Insurance Brokers Ltd.
Do not admit liability or make promise
of payment to the third party.
Forward all correspondences, writs
and claim letters received from the third parties to Charterlloyd
Insurance Brokers Ltd.
Pay due observance and fulfillment
of the terms and conditions of the insurance policy.
